Stopham Estate Vineyard’s story began in 2007 when winemaker Simon Woodhead planted 21,000 vines on the sixhectare (15-acre) estate following the successful completion of a Viticulture course at Plumpton Agricultural College in East Sussex. Joined by Assistant Winemaker Tom Bartlett in 2010, just in time for the first vintage, the pair today share a common passion for English wine and work hard to raise the bar crafting inspired, sustainable wines from Sussex land. Each vintage from Stopham Estate tells the story of the changeable Sussex countryside, with all of its unique trials and tribulations. We only use grapes grown on the estate and nurture our hand- picked vines to craft aromatic white wines that offer fruity flavours and a crisp natural acidity. In 2020, we were very proud to win the IEWA Trophy for Best English Still Wine for the 3rd year running, along with 2 gold medals. Our goal is simple, to make the best white wines England can offer.
