“Quality is everything here at Winbirri, it all begins in the vineyard. To make the best wines, you need the best grapes.” Lee Dyer
Winbirri Vineyard took the world by storm when, in 2017, their Bacchus won "Platinum Best in Show" at the Decanter Word Wine Awards. It sparked headlines across the world along the lines of "Best wine in the world is from England for less than £15 a bottle".
Winbirri Vineyards was established in 2007 by experienced fruit farmer, Stephen Dyer.
Stephen’s son, Lee, took over at the age of 32 in 2010, when the first commercial plantings took place.
The soils are very light, sandy loams with clay about 6ft down, and a high flint content.
Winbirri is the epitome of a family business—Lee manages everything in-house, with six family members helping to look after the vines and assist with the winemaking process. In keeping with the family’s obsession for quality, all pruning is done by hand.
